Occupational Rehabilitation

    • Occupational Rehabilitation at Fit For Work
      Pre-Employment Functional Screening – An assessment of the evaluees physical ability to safely perform specific job tasks.
    • Functional Assessment – This assesses the evaluee's general work tolerances and provides clear guidelines as to a person's functional abilities i.e. lifting, carrying, sitting, standing, etc. Information can be given as to the evaluee's level of employability in a specific job or in general.
    • Job Site Analysis – An on-site assessment of the physical demands of a specific job. Recommendations may be given as to ways to alter job tasks or equipment and ensure an ergonomic set-up is maintained.
    • Ergonomic Assessment -– Involves visiting the workplace to ensure proper work station design, to eliminate any risk of postural strain.
    • Clinic Based Conditioning – A flexible 3 - 6 week program focused on physical reconditioning, workplace tolerance build-up and work simulation. Clients should have tolerance for 2 hours of activity, a willingness to return to work and a defined goal.
    • Injury Prevention Training – Our professionals can offer seminars such as back education, stretching, return-to-work, health awareness, or repetitive strain injury prevention.
    • In Home Visit – To ensure a person is functioning at their maximum at home with recommendations provided on accessibility and safety equipment.
    • Occupational Rehabilitation at Fit For Work
      Exercise Therapy - The objective of our Exercise Therapy program is to return an injured individual to a normal way of life as soon as possible after suffering from an injury through an active exercise based rehabilitation program. No passive modalities are included. The program is designed for clients who are at work but having difficulty with work or non work related activities, or for clients with no specific job to return to, so Work Hardening is not appropriate.

    • Case Management Services – Our team of occupational health specialists includes case managers who share our philosophies of early intervention and aggressive return to work planning following an injury or illness.  Our case managers are able to liaise between the client’s medical providers, the client’s employer and the client, to investigate and oversee return to work initiatives.
    • Return To Work Planning – Return to work plans are developed to specifically meet the needs of the injured individual.  This return to work plan may be an easeback plan or a modified duties plan, which can be overseen by an Occupational Therapist.
