MEDICAL AND DISABILITY ASSESSMENT SERVICES

Medical Evaluations Section A or B– Independent Medical Evaluations are examinations performed by a physician not involved in the care of the examinee for the purpose of clarifying issues associated with the case. These are impartial, unbiased and objective assessments in which no physician/patient relationship or privilege exists. The sole purpose is to provide information to the requesting client and clarify issues associated with the claim and it is usually a one-time event. However, follow up appointments can be arranged for section B files. A timely and accurate report is written for this type of medical assessment. Submission of referral questions with these referrals is helpful in ensuring you get the best report.

Impairment Rating Assessment– When a claimant reaches maximum medical recovery the degree of permanent impairment can be determined through assessment and review of the medical file. It is expressed as a percentage of total permanent impairment of the whole person.

Access to Medical Specialists– FIT For Work has access to Physicians specializing in the areas of Psychiatry, Cardiology, Orthopedic Surgery, Pain Management, and Occupational Medicine. Specialist Independent Medical Examinations (IME) can be arranged.

Independent Rehabilitation Assessment– FIT For Work has access to a variety of Rehabilitation specialists including Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, and Chiropractors who can perform independent assessments and comment on need for ongoing rehabilitation treatment.

Multi-Disciplinary Assessments – A high quality multidisciplinary assessment of an injured or ill claimant with a complex claim to identify an effective treatment plan and facilitate early and safe return-to-work. Our team of professionals can tailor your assessment according to which disciplines are relevant for the presenting disability claim. The team of professionals available to collaborate on these assessments include: physicians, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, and chiropractors. Referring agencies can select which specific disciplines they want included.

Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE)– This assesses an individuals overall work tolerances and provides clear guidelines as to a person's functional abilities i.e. lifting, carrying, sitting, standing, etc. Information can be given as to the individual’s level of employability in a specific job or in general, as well as rehabilitation needs or workplace accommodations.

Cognitive Abilities Evaluations (CAE) – This assesses an Individual’s overall cognitive functioning and tolerances for work. Information is gathered on an individual’s capacity for memory, problem solving, attention, processing speed, etc. Information can be given as to the individual’s level of employability in a specific job or in general, as well as rehabilitation needs or workplace accommodations.
